Summary

Most industry owners already use digital technology. They use it for different practicalities, but mostly used it to spread information. One of the most widely used digital technologies is the LED Display. This device has proven to be a big contributor for the efficiency of a lot of sectors. To learn more about LED Display, this article tackles the effect of viewing angle and distance on the LED display.

LEDs

LED Display or Light-Emitting Diode Display is a device that uses a panel of LED as a light source in its display screen technology (Techopedia.com, 2021). Most devices are already installed with LED displays. Widely used devices such as, mobile phones, TVs, tablets, computer monitors, laptops screens, etc. use LED as their display output. This technology is one of the most used screens, commercially. Buyers of this product look into the viewing angle and distance of the LED device to know which one to use.

Viewing Angle

LED viewing angle is measured through the device and the viewer. In simple terms, viewing angle is the position from which the viewer can see an image or video adequately (Visualled.com, 2019). When the view angle is reduced, a person can only get a clear image in front of the screen. To explain the viewing angle, an LED screen must be measured horizontally and vertically to indicate up to what angle can people view the LED screen. Although, LEDs used on screen can also have an impact on the viewing angle it offers. Thus, color may affect the image seen by the spectator, lowering the image’s quality.

Distance

The distance at which you can see the images on an LED display clearly is called the minimum viewing distance (Jetstarked.com, 2021). To find the optimal viewing distance, take the pixel pitch of the screen, multiply by eight, and convert to feet. The rule of thumb is that the minimum viewing distance for an LED video wall is 1 meter for every millimeter of pixel pitch. But what is pixel pitch? It is the distance in millimeters from the center of a pixel to the center of the adjacent pixel. Simply put, it is the distance between pixels. A smaller pixel pitch means there is less empty space, thus creating improved screen resolution. But, additional pixel density is intended for a closer viewing distance. If there is a greater viewing distance, higher pixel density loses its visual advantages and simply increases the cost of the display.

Viewing Angle vs Distance

Viewing angles are affected by how large the size of your LED screen is and what LEDS are used for the screen. In buying an LED screen, the buyer must take in consideration the vertical and horizontal measurements of the device that he or she needs and where it will be placed in order to get an idea of the viewing angle. Furthermore, the buyer must also take in consideration the LEDs used by the device. On the other hand, viewing distance is solely determined by the pixel pitch of the device. Buyers must take note of the small pixel pitch of an LED display for short distance viewing and large pixel pitch for long distance viewing for people to see the display.

Conclusion

All in all, both viewing angle and viewing distance is important when buying an LED display. The purpose of an LED display is to be seen by the people. In order to utilize this amazing device users must also prepare the venue it will be placed and clearly know the purpose for its display. When both the aforementioned are taken into consideration, the measurement of the LED device, LED used, and measurement of Pixel Pitch can be easily gauged accordingly. Therefore, the buyer must greatly look into both viewing angle and viewing distance based on the proposed commission they want for the device.
