The rule of thumb is that the minimum viewing distance for an LED video wall is 1 meter for every millimeter of pixel pitch. But what is pixel pitch? It is the distance in millimeters from the center of a pixel to the center of the adjacent pixel. Simply put, it is the distance between pixels. A smaller pixel pitch means there is less empty space, thus creating improved screen resolution. But, additional pixel density is intended for a closer viewing distance. If there is a greater viewing distance, higher pixel density loses its visual advantages and simply increases the cost of the display.

Viewing Angle vs Distance

        Viewing angles are affected by how large the size of your LED screen is and what LEDS are used for the screen. In buying an LED screen, the buyer must take in consideration the vertical and horizontal measurements of the device that he or she needs and where it will be placed in order to get an idea of the viewing angle. Furthermore, the buyer must also take in consideration the LEDs used by the device. On the other hand, viewing distance is solely determined by the pixel pitch of the device. Buyers must take note of the small pixel pitch of an LED display for short distance viewing and large pixel pitch for long distance viewing for people to see the display.


        All in all, both viewing angle and viewing distance is important when buying an LED display. The purpose of an LED display is to be seen by the people.
